PAMELA MERRILL BREKKA, PH.D.

Board Chair

Dr. Brekka was born at MacDill Air Force Base; as an adult she lived in Illinois, Wisconsin, New York and Connecticut before returning to Tampa in 1996. She received her BA from the University of Tampa in 1988; her MA from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, in 1999; and her PhD from the University of Florida in 2012. Dr. Brekka holds a certificate in Arts Administration, New York University, 2001; Newberry Library Fellowship, 2010; University Women's Club Scholar, University of Florida, 2010; University of Florida, School of Art + Art History Graduate Student of the Year, 2012. She is an Instructor of Art History, University of South Florida, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Art History, University of Florida. Dr. Brekka is a dedicated educator with multiple publications in her field (1999-present), and has presented her research at international symposia and conferences (1995-present). She has a special interest in the effectiveness of arts curricula in ESE education; as such, she has served on capstone committees for University of Florida MA in Art Education graduates researching related topics.
